Périscope is the first Key Stage 3 French course to be published since the appearance of the Government’s Framework for Teaching Modern Foreign Languages at Key Stage 3. The 3-book course goes hand-in-hand with the Framework, greatly reducing the burden of planning and fully reflecting the Framework objectives for modern languages by focusing on language learning skills alongside language patterns and content.

Périscope takes a systematic, logical approach to explaining how the language works, and will engage and challenge all pupils, using texts, ideas and recordings that will interest and involve them. The course contains everything a student needs to progress confidently to GCSE. Each part of the Périscope course is accompanied by Teacher’s materials, notes and repromasters, and a CD-ROM.

The CD-ROMs add an interactive ICT dimension, with activities, games, Internet ideas and differentiated support, for use alongside the course or as a revision tool. The CD-ROMs also include:

- A detailed, customisable, Scheme of Work.
- Interactive activities grouped to correspond to each half-termly group of units in the Pupil’s Book (e.g. Book 1 Units 1-4).
- Interactive games grouped in the same way.
- Teaching notes including additional suggestions for Internet-based activities and research.
- The wordbank vocabulary sheets as in the Repromaster Books.
- The Schemes of Work as in the Teacher’s Guides, that can be downloaded and customised to fit in with your own planning.
